Federal reach(ing) too far

"The bill determined that the provincial housing minister could by a ministerial order nullify an HRM bylaw or part of a bylaw if it was deemed to impact housing or development."

Housing Minister John Lohr said of Bill 225

“We know there are other jurisdictions across the country where the minister has this type of authority. My commitment is to do everything that I can to see that this housing crisis is averted, so this is something that I can do. This is something that we are doing. "Lohr said

Sounds like Lohr is making light of the powers of this bill. Sweeping aside the will of the people to force homes to be developed where they may not be environmentally, structurally, and harmoniously, balanced may prove to be very detrimental to the lifeblood of our city. Our people.

Bill-225 gives the power to override any local decision made regarding housing at the municipal level and this is scary. There are implications here that go far beyond just overriding a new wheelchair ramp in order to push through development but could scale up much further depending on the climate at the time.

As Savage generalized, it's an overreach and should get pushback as such. We here, the constituents, should be aided, not railroaded into growth.
